Busy week but finally here is part 2 of the Improvisation category from the QuiltCon 2016 exhibitions put on by The Modern Quilt Guild, this year in Pasadena, next in Savannah!
QuiltCon 2016: Improvisation, Part 1 of 2
Now we have the first installment of the Improvisation category from the exhibitions at QuiltCon 2016. In Pasadena this year, QuiltCon is put on by The Modern Quilt Guild. Though there is a large curated and juried exhibition, Quiltcon is also a conference with classes and workshops, lectures and events. Everything is great, but for me, the quilts are the highlight. Enjoy!

PIQF–The Modern Quilt Competition
The Plaid Portico is finally back and first off this year we will have long overdue coverage of the Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara, CA. We’ll start with a 1st installment of the Modern Quilt Competition, with this year’s theme of “Mid-Century Mod”. After that, there will be selections from the Wall category and the World Quilt Competition.
QuiltCon 2015: Use of Negative Space part 1
Here we have the first of 2 installments of the quilts from The Use of Negative Space category at QuiltCon 2015, sponsored by APQS. The winners of the category will be at the end of Part 2.
We just HAVE to start out with a quilt by Jacquie Gering, author of Quilting Modern, renowned teacher, on the board of The Modern Quilt Guild, QuiltCon organizer and just about everything. Besides, negative space in quilting is one of her trademarks. I admit, I’m a fan.
Enjoy!

QuiltCon 2015: Piecing category, Part 1
We will cover the Piecing category, sponsored by Aurifil, in two parts since there are so many quilts. Remember that quilts for the QuiltCon competitions are accepted into the show first and then put into categories by the judges as part of the judging process. This group has so many interesting original compositions. The category winners will be shown at the end of Part 2 later this week.
Enjoy!
