Well, since we’ve already covered the Modern Quilt Guild’s exhibition at Quilt Market Houston 2015, here we have my picks from the rest of the exhibitions. There will be 2 more posts before we can cover them all, and these quilts span the spectrum. As usual you are subject to my curatorial eye which just means I take photos of ones that interest me for whatever reason.

We’ll backtrack after this to do some coverage of this year’s Pacific International Quilt Festival, as well as highlight some local quilt talent.

Here we have the first of 2 installments of the quilts from The Use of Negative Space category at QuiltCon 2015, sponsored by APQS. The winners of the category will be at the end of Part 2.

We just HAVE to start out with a quilt by Jacquie Gering, author of Quilting Modern, renowned teacher, on the board of The Modern Quilt Guild, QuiltCon organizer and just about everything. Besides, negative space in quilting is one of her trademarks. I admit, I’m a fan.

The Bias Tape Applique Challenge, sponsored by Panasonic at QuiltCon 2015, was a cool idea and some great quilts resulted, as you will see. QuiltCon, if you are just tuning in, is a now-to-be-annual conference sponsored by The Modern Quilt Guild.
