Well, The Plaid Portico is back again after the new year. Yes, another long blogcation was in order. Now it is sinking in that a whole new year is indeed ahead, and with the completion of a big home renovation just today, it really does feel like a chapter is ending and a new one is beginning. And since who doesn’t like before and after renovation photos, I’ll show you a couple of those before we get to the business of quilts and quilt shows and textiles.
Speaking of which, we will be covering a number of shows in the next few months. First there will be the Part II of The Amish Muse at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, then the Roderick Kiracofe exhibition at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art , Unconventional and Unexpected: Quilts Below the Radar. And then I will be heading to Quiltcon and will do comprehensive of the quilt exhibitions there. Can’t wait!
I hope to bring you lots of quilt show coverage this year beyond these and will of course from time to time show you my own quilt journey and share other textile, fabric, sewing and quilt projects and people I run across. Here’s to a great 2015 all around!
And the Shades of Grey quilt. It’s not really a sexy quilt as the name might imply. It really is just a grey quilt, comfortable and simple. It started out being a quilt back and instead I made it into a front. Though I mostly do improv quilting, it seems like when I am using fabric up for a quilt back, the true improv really comes out and I like the look of these, so… unaffected. These shots were taken in dappled sunlight, creating even more shades!
