A great day yesterday at The Sewing Summit 2012. My first session of the day was Creative Journey with Amber Carrillo, author of the blog One Shabby Chick who has been sewing and blogging for twelve years… from Hawaii! She makes very cool products she sells on Etsy and the typewriters are awesome.
Next up was Creative Fabric Selection with Jeni Baker, author of the blog In Color Order, quilter, bag and quilt pattern designer. She also has a brand new fabric line coming out with Art Gallery Quilts. Wonderful presentation, really pulled together the color story in the fabric selection process.
After lunch, I had Photography with Vanessa Howell, of LBJ studio. Wow, did I need this. Packed with clear and detailed information on product photography, I hope there is an improvement in my photos after this in the next year. http://www.lbg-studio.com
Last session of the day was Geared for Guys with Emily Herrick, a fantastic look into the decision making process in choosing fabrics and coming up with quilt designs for men. A gorgeous showing of said quilts, many of which are highlighted in Emily’s new book Geared for Guys. A quilt pattern designer, and fabric designer for Michael Miller Fabrics, Emily is also the blogger behind Crazy Old Ladies.
Some blog links from some of the ladies I am meeting here (where are all those cards I’ve collected?) Well, here are a few:
